Contacted AV Heating and cooling on a Sunday. My AC had been out since the day before. Even though they were extremely busy they fit me in and arrived earlier than they had told me. They fixed the problem immediately, they cleaned up their mess, they are extremely reasonable and reliable. Today they are installing a new furnace for me. I was hesitant to ask questions about the product that they were installing but Jim the owner answered all of my questions even though he was on another job. He felt it important to take the time to explain to me all the in and outs of the installation. I could not be more pleased with the service, their professionalism and courtesy. Jim's company is now my go to people when I need heating and cooling issues and maintenance. So happy I went with them. ~ Chris X

I am very pleased with the work done to my home by AV heating and cooling and would highly recommend them to my family and friends. They did an excellent job at installing two new furnaces and an entire A/C system to my home. My house didn't have central air conditioning previously so they had to run new electrical cable from my electrical box to the back of the house. Also one of the furnaces we had installed was 90% efficient so it required extra work to install. I was happily surprised that the actual owner Jim gave us the bid and worked on portions of the job himself. They left the area cleaner than it was to begin with and answered all my questions no matter how silly.I appreciate that Jim and his men were very knowledgeable, honest and kind. ~ Skye S

I would recommend this company to anyone! I have always used this company for any heating and cooling needs and have never been disappointed. Everyone is great to work with, from scheduling my appointments to speaking with the techs. I never have any troubles getting a hold of a live person for any help. AV Heating and Cooling has always been on time, reasonably prices, and honest when it comes to their work. I never have to worry about the work not being done correctly because their reps are willing to break everything down for you to understand. I also don't need to worry about there tech just trying to upsell on anything, their always honest about the work that needs to be done. Quick service and expertise are the two words I use to best describe my experience with AV Heating and Cooling. At 8:00 am I discovered that air conditioner was not working. I pride myself in being an all around handy-man. I checked my connections, my fuses, and tried to manually start the fan motor. All my efforts failed and I called AV. Within 1 hour a technician was at my front door and 20 minutes head had a bid and a fix. About 2 hours later I had cold air. The price was reasonable, but the biggest plus was the fact that he didn't mind if I watched and asked questions. His answers were plain enough language that I actually learned something. My AC went out on Tuesday 7/15. Jim came out that night checked out my unit and confirmed that it was shot. It was from 1992! When we went downstairs to see what we were working with there, I discovered that my furnace (1989) was recalled. So that needed to be replaced as well. It was probably emitting carbon dioxide into our home without us even knowing. It had a non working dehumidifier on it as well. Loaded with more mold I could imagine. Jim walked me through the process and was able to get me financed with Spire gas!! Today(7/17), Jim and another guy spent the day getting our new systems up and running!! He made this process so easy!! I was stressing because of the heat, but he fixed that!! I look forward to working with this company in the future as well!! This morning I woke up to our home being 85 degrees and our AC not blowing cool air. I called multiple places and no one was able to come out same day to fix or even diagnose the issue! I called AV Heating and Cooling and spoke to Jim and to my surprise he came out to my home in less then an hour after calling! Jim diagnosed the problem and made multiple fixes to get our AC unit back up and running! Jim even went out of his way to help inform me about things regarding my home warranty. He was very knowledgeable and helped explain everything to me! I will highly recommend this company to anyone! Thank you so much! My house has already cooled off in less then three hours. ~ Kara M

Jim Workman of AV Heating and Cooling showed up quicker than I expected, tracked down the problem with my central air conditioning and made the repairs very quickly. Jim's not only a professional that takes pride in his work but he's also a very personable individual. I must admit that the cost seemed a bit high but isn't that always the case? Everyone seems to want repairs done for free or dirt cheap. I was tickled to death with his expertise in tracking down my problem and getting me back up and running again on a very hot afternoon and it was on a very hot Saturday afternoon. Im not very experienced in HVAC but am a good mechanic and was fortunate to have diagnosed a failed circuit board for my uncle when his A/C stopped working. I didn't know where to find a used replacement board. A.V. was the first and only HVAC service company I needed to visit. I was treated with genuine respect and courtesy. Jim couldn't have been cooler. Not only did he seek out a used circuit board for me, he warrantied it, charged less than half of how much I expected, then sat down with me to answer some questions i had and even drew me a schematic! I just used AV Heating and Cooling for the 2nd time! I first called them in the dead of Summer 2011, out of the 5 companies I called, they were the only ones to keep their appointment. The work was quick and the price was very reasonable, I even received a military discount! So this winter, I didn't hesitate to call them again to come inspect my furnace, and received same day service. These guys take the time to ask the appropriate questions to determine the problem and then take the time to ensure you understand what was repaired and how to prevent future problems. Well I didnt give them enough credit. They personally contacted me. Came out to see problem and as I am typing Are going take care of everything. In fact they're on it now. A very professional "Jim Workman" offered his genuine apology and knowledge. I am so relieved to see they do honor their word. As a reviewer, I value my opinions about every business that deals business with me. I look for many things that matter most and usually they are the small things. A/V Heating and cooling went above and beyond my expectations of this service. I had to have a whole new unit replaced, the estimate was more than fair and the timing was fast and incredible. This company works as a team and they very good at it. If you ever need anything done to your furnace or you need to purchase a new one, call these guys they will absolutely take great care of you!! Jim W. Came out to see what he could do for our unit and succeeded where others failed! Diagnosed the issue quickly, explained it so that I could understand and executed the fix with a very acceptable time frame. I’ve NEVER experienced service at this level. Jim saved my behind! His answers to my questions were based on helping me, not over-selling me. His suggestions were sound and he left me with things that I can use for future plans and situations with my unit… should they ever arise. Never go to ANOTHER Heating and Cooling company in the KANSAS CITY METROPOLITAN AREA... AV heating and Cooling came out and gave me the best price out of anyone I went to for a complete system on my house!!! They showed up on time, even though it was raining outside and was able to get the job done in a timely manner, with the conditions they were given that day. Even got me a brand new thermostat, when I wasn't expecting to get one. Very respectful employees and very easy to get along with. I would like to let people know about my experience with AV Heating and Cooling I had them put in a Furnace 6 months ago and was impressed with their customer service and how they were so good at explaining the situation and problem This made me feel secure in my purchase they are very professional and knowledgeable I had to call again for a second time for a family member and had the same experience once again we just feel where we get taken care so well and that's why we always plan on using and referring AV Heating and Cooling for all my heating and cooling needs !! ~ Alli E

I just had a new HV/AC and water heater installed by these guys and have to say that I am so extremely happy with the work by Steve the installer and the fact that Jim Workman, the owner, saved me a few thousand over a competitor. When I called A.V. (which by the way stands for AMERICAN VETERAN!!!) Heating and Cooling for a bid, he told me not only what was best for my needs, but also what I didn't need - such as what the other company was trying to up sale me on, which was very important to me since I am a single woman. He also made things easy to understand. And, having workmen (aka strangers) in my house, I also need to feel a level of comfort that I definitely got from Jim and Steve. For anyone needing heating and/or cooling service in the greater Kansas city or Independence area, I highly recommend doing business with A.V. Heating and Cooling. Thank you Jim for your service!!! I highly recommend this company. I've been with them for 10 years when they installed a new AC and Furnace. I'll have them out every couple years for maintenance. They don't try to upsell on something I don't need. If there is something I may not need, they are upfront in saying that maybe in a couple years I may need such-and-such replaced but not now. Recently I had an issue where water was dripping down the sides where the seams are all taped up. The guy actually told me he could save me a few bucks on a call and had me do a simple fix, which was the overflow tube and drain pain being clogged. Problem solved. I have not had any problems with them and they are always on-time within their window. They do take credit card, but there is a fee for that, so I just breakout my rarely used checkbook and write a check. Also, they give a 10% military discount, so someone like me who was in the Marine Corps nearly 30 years ago really appreciates that. Great service and great people. ~ Megiloth

Jim Workman and His crew of hvac technicians are top notch! I have used them for emergency ac issues at my rental properties. They always try and get these as quick as possible and always do a great job. I am pretty sure they even offer a 24 hour service. They are reworking the air conditioning and furnaces in my commercial building dowtown right now and also doing the restaurant duct work in the building. They are the best heating & cooling company in Kansas City that I have ever used. Highly recommended. Jim is a 5 star person and so is his company! Best in KC hands down. ~ KC P

Had a very good experience with AV Heating and Cooling. Setting an appointment was easy, especially considering that this is probably one of their busiest times of the year. He called and then came out even earlier than promised. He did the work professionally, and seems to be extremely competent to me. Fixed my AC right up, explained what he was doing, and was very nice. He noticed my Navy license plate frame, and gave me a Veteran's discount that I didn't even have to ask about. Called AV heating and cooling around 4pm one evening to get a bid on a whole new heating and cooling system and they were able to come within the hour to give us a bid. Not only did he do that but he helped explain everything in a way that I was able to understand exactly what we were getting. Did not push anything extra on us, only what we asked for. And then they went above and beyond and installed our whole new system the very next day so that we'd have heat. Amazing customer service, great and helping with any questions or concerns. Jim Workman, owner of AV Heating & Cooling is professional, courteous, and fair. I called late on a Friday afternoon with an A/C problem and they responded quickly. The computer servers at my business depended on that A/C unit. By that evening we were back up and running. I appreciated how fast their response was, the quality of work, and that the bill was fair. I just wanted to share the experience that I had with A.V. Heating & Cooling. The were very nice to stop by even though I had canceled that same day. My A.C was not working for about two days and its had been a very wek, I was worried that I was not going to have enough to pay for the repairs and they where able to work with me. AV came out because we had what we thought was water running out of our heating system. They came out and inspected and it turns out they found the hot water heater had rotted through the bottom. They installed new hot water heaters at a reasonable price and even gave me a veterans discount. They were very professional and courteous. I recommend them to anyone needing HVAC or in our case hot water heater repair or replacement. Very reliable and honest. ~ William H

These guys have helped me out of a jam twice now this year. First with my AC this summer and now with a surprise broken furnace after we returned from the holidays to a cold house. They came out right away both times and offered me several ways to meet my budget. Jim did a great job as a salesman and technician. He got me a good deal on an Amana AC unit with a lifetime compressor warranty. The company also gave me a great military discount. When we had a glitch with the new system, Jim came right out and fixed it right away. The office also answers the phone 24-7 and gets messages to the Techs right away.
